Security Awareness Training for all Seafarers (Model Course 3.27)

This course is approved by Cyprus Maritime Administration.

The seminar is intended to provide the awareness required to enable personnel working on board a vessel but without designated security duties in connection with a Ship Security Plan (SSP) to enhance ship security.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to perform their duties in accordance with the requirements of Chapter XI-2 of SOLAS 74 as amended, the ISPS Code A/13.4 and guidance provided in B/13.4), STCW Code section A-VI/6 and table A-VI/6-1, as amended and EU regulation on enhancing ship and port facility security (725/2004).

Our Training For Seafarers Without Designated Security Duties course is prepared according to the requirements included in IMO model course 3.27.

Aims & Objectives
  • Assist you with a thorough understanding of the ISPS Code
  • Help participants become familiar with the basic maritime security
Learning Outcomes

Having successfully completed this course you will have knowledge of:

  • the meaning and the consequential requirements of the different security levels
  • knowledge of emergency procedures and contingency plans
  • recognition and detection of weapons, dangerous substances and devices
  • recognition, on a non-discriminatory basis, of characteristics and behavioral patterns of persons who are likely to threaten security
  • techniques used to circumvent security measures
 and receive competence to:
  • contribute to the enhancement of maritime security through heightened awareness
  • recognize of security threats
  • understand of the need for and methods of maintaining awareness and vigilance
Who should attend?
  • Generally all seafarers but specifically crew serving onboard not having specific security duties. 
Prerequisite skills & knowledge:
  • Basic understanding of SOLAS Ch XI – 2, and STCW is needed.

  • be facing forwards and looking straight at the camera
  • have a plain expression and your mouth closed
  • have your eyes open and visible
  • not have hair in front of your eyes
  • not have a head covering (unless it’s for religious or medical reasons)
  • not have anything covering your face
  • not have any shadows on your face or behind you
