• Offer the knowledge and skills required in accordance with IMO circulars and guidance.
• Deliver the training necessary for the application and maintenance of a company’s Safety Management Code.

• Understand the responsibilities and authority of the DPA, including possible legal exposure and other potential difficulties.
• Understand preparation and assessment techniques (examining, questioning, evaluating, reporting).
• Apply the technical and operational aspects of the SMS taking into account SEEMP Part II requirements.
• Carry out effective communications with shipboard staff and senior management.
